Post Discussion Reflection (Nov 3rd)

 During this week's discussion, someone asked how would we feel if our mother had died the same way as Jacob's. Many of them said they would cry for a whole day. I think whole day would not even be enough. Some of them raised the question about why did Jacob's father allowed him to use a dart to shoot the deer in the zoo since he knows for sure that it is not a right thing to do. It makes me wonder as well. It never had crossed my mind. Some of them suggested that maybe he didn't wants the job anymore and did not mind getting fired as his heart has already set for Kenya. Someone asked why did the mum actually married Sam. I was surprised that someone answered that it is because she wanted more money and wanted someone to take care of Jacob after Jacob's father left. My initial thought was that they were truly in love with each other. This response had opened up my thoughts and I think it can be true that she married Sam for the sake of money. After the discussion, some of my thoughts about Jacob's mum has changed. I now view her as a mother that would do anything for the sake of her child. I guess that Jacob silently wished that both their parents are still together.
